China Moving (2006)

Photographs taken between June and August of 2006 in Beijing. The donkey is at the Great Wall near Beijing. After taking the "Gambling" picture, I was promptly kicked out of the restaurant. Apparently gambling, like so many other "capitalist ills," continues to go on despite laws forbidding it.

terminal cancer (2005 - 2006)

我舅父（我妈妈的弟弟）有了一年多的癌症。 这些照片是我在纽约拍的。他十月三十一号去世了。

Brittany, France (2006)

I travelled to St. Malo in Brittany in January 2006. It is a resort town, yet it has a long history full of pirates and wars and heroics. In the winter, it is cold, quiet, stormy. I know no French and being by myself, I felt the deep solitude and slumber of this beautiful town at rest.

Wangfujing, Beijing 王府井 (2006)

These skateboarders were hanging around the old Catholic church on WangFuJing Street, Beijing. Now, the street is the premier shopping district in Beijing, lined with all sorts of malls. The church, which was built about a century ago, still has services every week. However, it does not have the official recognition of the Vatican. Before I took this picture, I talked to many of the skateboarders, who despite showing off their rebellious tattoos, hairstyles, etc., were really quite shy.
